Airbrush Makeup: Is It Worth The Hype?
Have you heard of airbrush makeup? It’s becoming commonly requested for events and weddings, and while it sounds fancy, is it really worth the hype?
Airbrush makeup is basically a light-weight foundation that is applied via a compressor so that the foundation is “airbrushed” on. It is sometimes used as a finishing touch on traditional makeup, to give a light look, or can be used for the all-over face. If you have been considering airbrush or are curious about it, here are some of the pros and cons.
Light-weight feel and smooth finish
One of the major benefits of airbrush is that it has a smooth finish and is very light. It is a great option for those who don’t wear a lot of makeup and don’t want to feel like they are wearing anything.
Airbrush will often take less time than traditional makeup (if done correctly) and you can still get the finishing touches like contouring. It can be great for an everyday natural look since it doesn’t take much time.
It’s great for sensitive skin
If you have sensitive or oily skin, airbrush makeup is usually the best option for you, as it is light-weight and won’t clog your pores like traditional makeup can. You won’t even feel it on your face, which is amazing, and it won’t get shiny, so you can have a smooth and lasting finish without worrying about if you have oily skin.
It can be messed up easily
If you don’t have someone who is good at airbrush makeup, it can be messed up quickly and you would potentially have to start over to get it right.
This is particularly for weddings and brides because if there is any crying involved, the makeup runs and that is not an attractive look. So you have to be careful about that.
It costs more
Airbrush, whether used as a finishing touch or as the main application, is typically an extra cost than regular makeup. This is usually because of the tools and skill needed to apply it.
So is airbrush worth the hype?
To be perfectly honest, whether airbrush is worth it or not is entirely up to your preference. In general, it isn’t necessary and you can get the same light-weight finish and feel or airbrush using traditional makeup. However, if you do have sensitive or oily skin, I would recommend airbrush, as it will eliminate any stress of irritation or lasting wear.
